Humboldt State University (HSU) is the northernmost campus of the California State University system, located in Arcata within Humboldt County, California. Founded in 1913, Humboldt State’s namesake is Alexander von Humboldt. Humboldt State University is a charter member of the 23-campus California State University (CSU), the largest state university system in the United States. The university is divided into three colleges: the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; the College of Natural Resources and Sciences; and the College of Professional Studies. There are 49 undergraduate majors and 85 minors. The two most popular majors are Biology and Art.
